The Eco Garden is a garden and landscape design bureau on the Cotswold Edge in Gloucestershire. In terms of markets, we service everyone from domestic client to commercial developer.
Our design ethos is the promotion of sustainability especially framed in the ecology of a site or project from the soil through to the top predators and human interactions.

Ecology
As noted above, ecology refers to our home, our habitat as humans. In this context we are referring to the natural world, the diverse world of flora and fauna around us.
In our approach to the ecological aspects of garden design we take pointers and inspiration from permaculture, regenerative strategies, and more.
Focus is on a healthy and diverse ecosystem considering all aspects from soil microbes and fungi through the plants and mini-beasts which rely on those the larger animals which feed on those. It is these larger creatures like birds and pollinators which we note.
We
approach the question of biodiversity with the use of as many native plants as we can. We also assess the condition of the planting substrate (e.g. the soil) and apply aggregates if needed. Another issues is sterility of the soil and will inoculate with carefully selected imported soils from established gardens. |

Landscape design
So much can be written about garden and landscape design. We endeavor to keep ourselves abreast of the latest trends while educating ourselves about design history and principles.
Experience plays a great part in our designs: how people use the landscape, what products last and how they wear or weather, etc.
We work with domestic clients in their gardens, large and small, as well as with commercial entities. Commercial clients can include developers of residential and commercial projects from individual properties through to large estates and more.
